Review of the 2nd SMART4ALL workshop on HiPEAC 2022

On June 21st, SMART4ALL successfully organized the 2nd workshop in the context of the high-profile international HiPEAC Conference 2022, with an aim to expose the project to the computing community and showcase some of the pathfinder application experiments funded by SMART4ALL.

The workshop, moderated by Stephan Wong (Delft University of Technology), attracted about 20 attendees, researchers (from academia and industry) and students interested in digital transformation and innovation in Central and Southeastern Europe.

Invited keynote speakersSandro D’ Elia, Program officer at European Commission and Maria Roca, senior project manager at FundingBox and I4MS project manager – offered inspiring presentations regarding the deployment of digital capacities for a green, resilient Europe and the role of European Projects and EDIHs in Europe’s digital decade, respectively. Along with the keynote speeches, the morning session also included an overview of the SMART4ALL project and Marketplace, provided by SMART4ALL technical manager, prof. Georgios Keramidas.

On the afternoon session, technical presentations of pathfinder application experiments executed by either beneficiaries or partners of SMART4ALL, were made by:

  • Tamás Kerekes, President and CEO at NplusT srl and 2nd FTTE beneficiary participating in the consortium of the project POP-LEC “Power Optimization of Low Energy Computing Devices”
  • Tamás Kovácsházy, Hungarian Project Manager and Task Force Leader for Digitized Anything at SMART4ALL Innovation Action on behalf of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, giving a technical speech on “Asymmetric Multiprocessing using Heterogeneous SoCs in Linux for Low-Power Embedded Systems
  • Wanja Zaeske, Research Scientist at German Aerospace Center (DLR), who gave the latest updates on the state of the Digitized Transportation Vertical, its challenges and opportunities
  • Mateja Lampe, CEO at Red Pitaya, providing tangible results of Red Pitaya’s experiments for the acceleration of innovation through educational content and product development and

Stephan Wong, associate professor at TU Delft giving an interesting speech on “Diamond-based Quantum Computers and Business Opportunities”.
